These are some short test videos I made to play with setting up a shot, see what I'll need to do for lighting and sound, and play with the video editing. I haven't edited video since I used to do it Sunday evening after a weekend at the dropzone back in 2001 and 2002. It'll come back to me though with some practice. :)

This was my first test video with the new camera, shot on Sunday May 4, 2008. It was a test to see how the light is in my tiny apartment, and how the sound works. I found out the wireless lavalier mic I had purchased sucks, so I'll probably pick up a shotgun mic to get better sound. I had hoped to make use of natural light from the window, but that didn't work out either.

I shot another test video on Saturday May 31st, this time with some additional light. I picked up an inexpensive clamp light from Lowes and a fluorescent 60w bulb. It was pretty bright, so I'll probably pick up another clamp light, and a couple of 40w bulbs for better light coverage from all sides.

I also need to replace the hard drive in my old Apple PowerBook so I can use iMovie to edit the video with. A 2001 copy of Pinnacle on my old Windows 2000 hard drive is not very optimal for editing the video.. But it has done ok for testing I think.

I still need to pick up a decent (but non-expensive) shotgun mic to get some good sound, but we're making progress here!
